From tripadvisor.com: “Milano was exceptional” LeVoyageurDuMonde Athens, GA Feb 20, 2008 We found the hotel on the WEB. It was clear from reviews at tripadvisor that the owner was an interesting person and that the hotel would likely be to our taste. We were not disappointed on either. We stayed two nights in November, 2007, prior to a cruise. The hotel was very accessible and centrally located in the old town, with ready access to a wide variety of restaurants. We found the old town to be a safe area for evening strolls, and of course great for sightseeing. Our room was spacious and in the front – while others had complained of noise, we heard none, perhaps because it was November. Quiet all night. The bed was comfortable; the plumbing and air conditioning worked well. Altogether, this was a perfect location for anyone prior to, or just after, a cruise as the boats were just a short distance away. The owner proved to be quite personable and quite interesting to talk with. He was ready to spend time with his guests and to provide advice when requested. We would happily stay there again and we would definitely recommend this hotel to our best friend From tripadvisor.com: “Service beyond compare” Boston area, MA, USA Feb 16, 2008 Just spent the last two nights of a 10-day Puerto Rico vacation at Hotel Milano. Owner Juan San Emeterio was clearly the highpoint of not only our stay there, but of our entire vacation. He is gracious, attentive, generous, and utterly delightful. Our room was clean, quiet, simple; bed was very comfortable. I would definitely return, but would not stay in the same room due to its only two extremely tiny windows. (To the hotel's credit, the clerk who took the booking mentioned "small windows" in the only room he said was free; but these were unimaginably tiny - perhaps 10 inches square - high up just below the ceiling. Other guests mentioned their windows were fine.) Only other room problem we encountered was that there was no way to control the AC until we asked, but then we were given one of (only) two existing remotes from the front desk, which worked fine.
Tripadvisor: In February ‘07 we stayed at the Hotel Milano in Old San Juan, PR for three nights before our Panama cruise. We truly enjoyed our stay at the Milano. As many of you have commented, it is situated in the middle of Old San Juan in the perfect location for visiting the forts, restaurants, and nightlife. We had a very pleasant room on the fourth floor facing the street with little or no street noise during our visit. Housekeeping kept the room immaculate. The restaurant on the roof terrace served delicious meals in the evening. What impressed us the most were the attentiveness and kindness of the owner/manager Juan San Emeterio and his staff. He was the perfect host beginning with his prompt email responses regarding our reservation to his seeing us off when we checked out. We encourage you to consider the Hotel Milano on your next visit to San Juan and to take the time become acquainted with Juan. He is a very interesting and erudite gentleman. You will come to find him to be a writer/poet/artist and an interesting individual. When we next visit San Juan, we will definitely stay at the Hotel Milano and look forward to seeing Juan again.
"Great little hotel!" We selected this hotel after seeing it in March, 2006 when some friends stayed there. We booked a room with two beds in order to have more room. It is in a great location. The hotel is small, which is what we liked. Nice clean rooms and quiet. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. There is a nice restaurant on the roof, with some tables outside. Good food and service. Breakfast was included in the price. We would definitely stay there again. San Juan: Hotel Milano: "Milano was perfect" We arrived on a cruise ship and stayed another 3 nights at the Milano. Old San Juan's many places of interest were within walking distance from the hotel as were reaturants and shopping. We cannot imagine a better place for seeing the old city. |
